After I made this painting, I went to China to paint a mural, and I painted the same raven once again. Then I got arrested, and the police interrogated me, forcing me to confess all the implications I put in the details of the mural, e.g. “Why did you paint the raven?” So I told the truth: it was taken from a recent painting of mine showing a corner of the Forbidden City. The police paused for a few seconds, then shouted at me: “Painting a raven in a Forbidden City picture shows you already had a sick mind!”
